rover driving visualization tool for safe traverses on Mars
The RoverSketch (RSketch) tool enables current rover drivers of the Curiosity rover to quickly and visually plan out drive routes and autonomously update spacecraft commands, eliminating a once manual procedure conducted almost entirely via the command line.
Lead and participated in vigorous user research:
I collaborated directly with cross-functional teams (designers, and trained rover planners) to design various UI/UX concepts for new rover planner
drive visualization experience. I also implemented a continuous user feedback
loop between rover planners and our design team to ensure continuous communication and user insight into our production.
Conducted in person interviews with rover planners and observations:
I monitored rover planners in their nominal operations scenarios for +20 hours. In addition to generating clarity into their process, I produced storyboards and in person interviews with rover planners to understand tool performance and enhancements needed for improved software tools.
UX / UI design ownership: I produced the entire visual design, user experiences, and final mock ups for development implementation of the RSketch product.
