I’ve practiced design for nearly a billion years across a diverse
set of industries including aerospace, finance, media, and infrastructure. Through these partnerships, I’ve learned that building helpful technology comes from shared clarity around the problem to be solved and the needs of the people who will use it in the future. Clarifying the problem space and understanding people is the work I’m passionate about; distilling pain-points into a usable interface is just a bonus.

COMPLEX SYSTEMS
My background is in building software for complex domains.
At NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, I was the first User Experience designer hired to help create a suite of software for commanding the Perseverance rover / Mars2020.

While working with robots, I learned the very human experience of storytelling, and how illustration can bring consensus and clarity to complex domains and innovation.

UNDERSTAND THE PEOPLE

My work ranged from building out large scale simulation tests of future operations processes, to creating niche tools for Earth scientists examining data of our changing environment. 

I’m adept at distilling complexity into accessible information. When I see dense documentation about a software product, or a research paper on technical concepts, I light up knowing I can find a way to explain these concepts to a broader audience.

BUILDING NEW PROCESSES

This impulse to clarify and use storytelling to make sense of the world has enabled me to adapt quickly to new companies across various industries.

At HBO, I partnered with the Product team building new features for the HBO Go app and HBO Max experience. The products I delivered provided greater accessibility to the exceptional programming of the HBO catalog. I worked hard to make storyboards an expected deliverable; storyboards gave many of the teams deeper insight into how these new features would fit into the larger whole of the app.

COMMUNITY FOCUSED

The evolution of my practice is forever in flux. My foundational passion for helping people better access information and participate in their digital and public spaces remains a constant. I offer services capturing rapid, visual sketches and notes for events. I have a quarterly website that I use as platform to encourage people to invite a consistent creative practice in their world.
